Wills

Having a legal will can help instruct the court of your wishes in a clear and precise manner. Whether you are creating a will for the first time, looking to revoke your will, or need help with a will codicil (amendment to your will), ELP can help ensure that your will is properly executed and your loved ones have what they need once you leave this world.

Codicils

A codicil is an amendment to an existing Will. A codicil allows you to change certain terms of your Will, such as adding or deleting the names of your beneficiaries, changing distribution to beneficiaries, adding or removing property, or changing the executor (the person named in the Will to oversee the probate process of the decedent’s estate).

Trusts

Creating a trust can be intimidating. However, trusts can be an ideal option if you wish to avoid the time and cost of probate, allow the immediate distribution of assets after your death, and minimize federal or state taxes. Trusts can also protect your privacy because they do not become public record. Let ELP help explain the differences between the various types of trusts, and help you find the right type of trusts that meet your estate planning needs.

Advance Health Care Directive

Your Advance Health Care Directive is a crucial document that spells out your medical wishes if you become incapacitated. By preparing an Advanced Health Care Directive now, while you are healthy, you can choose your agent(s) who will follow your medical instructions, establish guidelines of what treatments you do not want, select your doctors, pick burial or cremation for your remains.

Financial Power of Attorney

Setting up a Financial Power of Attorney means appointing trusted individual(s) to make your financial decisions when the need arises or you are unable to manage your financial affairs. It is highly recommended that you set up a Power of Attorney, and dictate your financial terms, rather than being subject to court appointment of your agent(s).
